Temperament
Generally a quiet cat. Homely and placid affection to owners, friendly towards strangers, clean, vocal and fussiness over food.
Care
They need regular grooming to prevent matting. Their eyes may require regular cleaning to prevent crust build-up and tear staining. The Persian Cats doesn’t require much exercise and is well suited to apartment living.
Exotic Shorthair
Country of Origin: Iran/USA
Breed Size: medium
Colour: Ranging from solid colours, tabby, bicolour
Coat: short, thick, dense coats
Character
A breed of cat developed to be a shorthaired version of the Persian. They appeal to people who like the personality of a Persian but do not want the hassle of grooming a longhaired cat.
Temperament
Gentle and calm personality reminiscent of the Persian, but it is livelier than his longhaired ancestor. Curious and playful, it is friendly to other cats and dogs; they rarely meows.
Care
The Exotic Shorthair is able to keep its own fur tidy with little human assistance, though weekly brushing and combing is recommended to remove loose hair and reduce shedding and hairballs. Play is one of the best exercises for this breed.
British Shorthair
Country of Origin: Great Britain
Breed Size: Large
Colour: variety of colours, blue is best known
Coat: short, dense and plush
Character
It is chunky and substantial and the male is much larger than the female. The face is round with full cheeks and the nose is short and broad. The chin is deep and strong. Probably the most famous British Shorthair cat of all is the 'Cheshire Cat' in the classic children's fairy tale by Lewis Carroll "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland". They are calm with a big dose of typical British reserve, especially for first time meetings with strangers. Once they get to know you, their shyness falls away, and they become extremely friendly and highly faithful companions.
Temperament
A big soft lump of a cat, a Gentle giant, loving and affectionate. Good with children and other animals. They do not continuously demand human attention.
Care
British Shorthairs do not require a lot of grooming as their fur does not tangle or mat easily. However, it is recommended that the coat should be brushed occasionally, especially during seasonal shedding, since they may develop hairballs at this time. British Shorthairs can be prone to obesity when de-sexed or kept indoors, so care should be taken with their diet.
Scottish Fold
Country of Origin: Scotland
Breed Size: medium
Colour: white, black, blue, red, and cream
Coat: short and dense
Character
The most noticeable feature of a Scottish Fold is its ears, which are small and tightly folded, forward and down. They are very loyal and tend to bond with one person in the household. While they will usually allow others to cuddle and pet them, their primary attachment becomes quickly clear as they single out their chosen humans. They thrive on attention, but it must be on their own terms
Temperament
It has a sweet, soft-spoken gentle temperament despite its strange appearance. They are good with children and other animals. Enjoys the home comforts, but is also hardy and an able mouser.
Care
Scottish Folds require weekly brushing with additional grooming when they are shedding. Scottish Folds enjoy playing and hunting, should be encouraged to play and exercise to prevent it from becoming overweight.
Bengal
Country of Origin: USA
Breed Size: Large
Colour: Rosettes, or two-toned spots, marbled, generally solid spots
Coat: Short and fine; coat is thick and extremely soft
Character
The Bengal is relatively new hybrid breed of cat, formed by the cross of a domestic feline and an Asia Leopard Cat; "wild-looking" markings, such as large spots, rosettes, and a light/white belly, and a body structure reminiscent of the Asian Leopard Cat. The Bengal cat has a desirable "wild" appearance with a gentle domestic cat temperament, provided it is separated by at least three generations from the original crossing between a domestic feline and an Asia Leopard Cat
Temperament
An affectionate, sociable breed. Highly active and playful, making it a great cat for children. The Bengal gets along with people, dogs, and other cats
Care
These cats actually seem to enjoy water, so occasional bathing isn't an enormous hassle. They are average shedders and need to be brushed at least once per week. The Bengal is a very active breed that needs a garden and plenty of room to run, play, and hunt.
