The Cardinal Tetra brings delicate beauty to any freshwater aquarium. It has a bright blue stripe contrasted by a lower red stripe that runs the entire length of its body. This coloration differs from its cousin, the Neon Tetra, which has a red stripe that runs only halfway down the body. Equally as peaceful as Neon Tetras, Paracheirodon axelrodi will school together for a brilliant display. The Cardinal Tetra does best in soft, acidic water with few fluctuations in water parameters. The Cardinal Tetra should be kept in groups of six or more and be housed with equally peaceful tank mates.

The neon tetra is one of the most striking aquarium fish, with a gleaming blue line along its side. Below this line the back half of the fish is a rich red, which distinguishes it easily from its cousin the cardinal tetra; in the cardinal the red colouring extends to the whole length of the body. Neon Tetras fish are ideal for both large and small aquariums and are guaranteed to provide a stunning display. Neons are shoaling fish, and are seen at their best in a group. These are not only beautiful but peaceful fishes, and are suitable for quiet aquaria with tank mates of an equally placid temperament. Although they come from naturally soft acidic waters in South America, in the aquarium the neon is an adaptable fish that can acclimatise to a pH as high as 8.

There are many different colour variations of guppies and they are a hardy fish that can tolerant small changes in water parameters; they make an ideal fish for a beginner to the hobby. The different in sexes can be identified by the male guppy having a brighter and more colourful tail fin. The female is larger in size with duller colouration and has a rounded anal fin.

Angel fish add drama and brilliance to your community aquarium. Angel prefers a well-planted tank of at least 30 gallons with soft, slightly acidic water. Rocks and driftwoods can be added to the aquarium but maintain plenty of space for swimming. Angels needs to be fed a variety of foods including vegetables as well as meaty foods. Feed a quality flake food as well as live and frozen foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms.

The True Rummy-Nose Tetra gets its name from the red blushing across its nose and face. The True Rummy-Nose Tetra is a peaceful omnivore that makes an excellent addition to community aquariums with non-aggressive tank mates. It’s also known as the Banded Rummy-Nose Tetra, this fish is native to South America and thrives in well-planted systems. In addition to plants, decorate the aquarium with scattered rocks and driftwood to simulate its natural habitat. As with other shoaling fish, a school of six or more True Rummynose Tetras creates an impressive aquarium display.
