The Ocellaris Clown fish is also commonly known as the False Percula Clownfish and False Clown Anemone fish. The Ocellaris Clownfish can reach the length of 3.2”(8cm) in the wild, but in the aquarium most specimens rarely exceed 2” (5cm). The fish is sometimes sold as a Percula Clownfish, even though it’s not. The colour pattern is very similar, but the Percula Clownfish has a bright orange colour and a thicker black outline. The Ocellaris Clownfish is a hardy and longed lived and ideal for beginners to the hobby. It does best in the presence of anemones such as Heteractis magnifica and Stichodactyla gigantea.

The True Percula Clownfish is the fish most people picture when they imagine a marine aquarium. With their bright orange body color, divided by bands of elegant white outlined in black. True Percula Clownfish is commonly associated with anemones such as Heteractis magnifica or Stichodactyla mertensii. However, in the home aquarium the True Percula Clownfish can do fine without an anemone partner. The True Percula Clownfish is not for the inexperienced, which poses a challenge for many new hobbyists. Percula Clownfish is often confused for the much easier to keep Ocellaris Clownfish. Therefore, care needs to be taken in choosing the appropriate clownfish for your home aquarium.

The Tomato Clownfish is also known as the Bridled or Cinnamon Clownfish. The Tomato Clownfish is a bright orange-red with one white vertical stripe behind the eyes. It’s average length in the wild of 5 inches, but it usually reaches a maximum of 3.5 inches in an aquarium. The hardy Tomato Clownfish can be housed with most fish, however, it should not be housed with any shy or passive feeding fish, as the Tomato Clownfish tends to be somewhat territorial and aggressive when it gets older. Tomato Clownfish commonly found throughout the Pacific, almost always in association with an anemone such as Bubbletip Sea Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor).

The Clarkii Clownfish is also commonly known as the Clark's clownfish, Sebae Clownfish. The Clarkii clownfish is one of the hardiest clownfish species available in the aquarium trade. The Clarkii clownfish has a higher body than many other species of clownfish. The body is yellow to orange with vertical white stripes. Like most other clownfish the Clarkii clownfish doesn't need to be kept with an anemone in the aquarium, but prefers having one. The Clarkii clownfish accepts a long row of different anemones including Sebae anemone (hence it´s other name Sebae Clownfish), carpet anemones, bubble tip anemones and long tentacle anemones. It usually also accepts corals as hosts.

The Maroon Clownfish, also known as the Spine-Cheeked Anemonefish or Maroon Anemonefish. It has a bold, red body color with a broad white stripe on the forehead, and white stripes on its midsection and in front of the anal fin. It can live without an anemone in the home aquarium, but does best with desired host anemone such as Bubbletip Sea Anemone (Entacmaea quadricolor). It is aggressive towards other clownfish, and they are difficult to maintain together in the same aquarium.
